VALEDICTORY SPEECH

The chairman, Board of Governor, Principal/Proprietress, Proprietors, member of staff, invited guests, distinguished Ladies and gentlemen, good afternoon.

Today as I stand flashing back on the footprints of time I remembered when I joined this noble college in September 2005 as a new bucket, now I will like to say it has been a successful journey indeed. Just like when people embark on a journey using vehicles or planes and the challenges there of, my passages through secondary school education has not being without challenges. However, if weighed on a balance scale, degree of success and accomplishment supersedes the challenges. My presence here is a testimony.

Education is, I suppose, like mountain climbing, with the guidance of an instructor, you gather your resources, look at the mountain from every possible perspective, and study the experience of those who you have been there before. You can also develop your strategy, check your equipment and begin to climb. With your goal as your compass, you overcome the differing views of the horizon with every turn. The higher you go the colder and hostile the environment becomes. Sometimes it’s every lonely, quiet, almost peaceful, but soon the winds. Pick up, the clouds that appear, confronting your every efforts to achieve your goal. But with perseverance, knowing you‘re on the right course. Seldom do you go straight from the ground to pinnacle. You usually take one peak at a time a term, a session, a class and so on for duration of six years. The wheels of education grind ever so slowly, but grind on they do; and so fight on you will. It’s a tough, protracted and grueling process. But with the assistance of able, committed and dedicated leaders and instructors, this whole routine could become a pleasant transformation process and a memorable one indeed.

I make bold to say, in my own case, this monumental achievements wouldn’t have been possible without the motherly, professional and steadfast attention I received from my principal, instructor, Chief Mrs. Adenrele Taiwo (JP) who had made several sacrifices, unnumbered in propensity and quantum to see that I, my mates and the rest of the students become great ambassadors of this school in the community of school’s. Mummy, such sacrifices can only be rewarded by God. As a moral being, I will say, thank you very much. I also want to appreciate our proprietor Chief Olapoju Taiwo, for his various roles and contributions in providing a serene environment for mental growth and academic excellence of all the students in this school. You‘ve been a father indeed!

When I was elected head girl for 2010/2011 academic session, I set out to ensure that I contribute my quota in upholding the moral and academic standard of all the students in this school, especially the female students. Today I stand to say that during my tenure, there had never been any case of gross indiscipline or misconduct by any student. By the reason of this, I will like to charge the incumbent prefects and any other students to ensure that whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report, if there be any praise, and they should think on these things and do them.

Nevertheless, if I am successful today, the credit goes to my teachers because of their penchant touch in handling topics. You are all unbeatable geniuses. With the level of discipline and commitment you all approached your work; I can prophetically see you on the wings of time moving towards taking your place on the world’s centre stage.

Finally, it takes the living to learn, it takes the healthy to understand, it takes the favour and mercy to stand there today, and it takes truth and life to celebrate! To crown all l’ve said, my thanks goes to He that keep alive and also kills, who held the centre from time immemorial, anchoring everything so that His name will be glorified among the sons of men: The high and lofty one that inhabits eternity whose name is Holy, commander in chief of the heavenly forces and the Lord strong and mighty! Thank you.
